Private Investigator Case Study: Close Protection, Surveillance & The Fraudster

Location: Edinburgh and Manchester

What we did

In 2018 we were hired to help a client who was facing imminent danger due to death threats received from an individual residing in Edinburgh. To mitigate this threat Bond Rees provided protection services to ensure the client’s safety while in the country.

The primary objective of this case was to protect the client from potential harm stemming from the death threats and to unravel the intentions of the threatening party. In a strange turn of events, the case uncovered an unexpected illegal operation involving fraudulent charity collections.

How we did it

Upon the client’s arrival in the country, we assigned a dedicated protection team to ensure their safety. Our team was prepared to respond to any potential security threats or emergencies.

A separate private investigative team was dispatched to Edinburgh to monitor the subject and make sure he stayed away from our client. Their task was to maintain surveillance for the duration of the client’s trip and gather information about the subject’s activities.

During the week of surveillance, the team observed the subject making a significant journey. However, instead of heading to London as anticipated, he travelled to Manchester.

Our private investigators tailed him to Manchester, where he was seen collecting money from individuals who worked for him. Our investigative team found out that these individuals had been posing as charity collectors, collecting funds to support people in war-torn countries. However, it became evident that the subject was pocketing the donated money, and we were able to expose a highly fraudulent operation.

Results

The client’s trip to the country was successfully safeguarded, thanks to the presence of the close protection team provided by us. Furthermore, the surveillance operation uncovered the subject’s involvement in an illicit charity scam.

The client was relieved to have safely completed their trip to the country, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our protective team. The information obtained during the surveillance operation in Edinburgh and Manchester was passed on to the police for further investigation.
