Your test will be entirely discreet and confidential and we will never share any personal information or details that you disclose to us with any other individual, organisation, or agency.

A lie detector test is extremely versatile and can be used in virtually any situation or to resolve any dilemma.

As a private individual you may have suspicions that your partner is being unfaithful and want to book a partner or matrimonial lie detector test to confirm this, or you may have suspicions about a friend or family member who is harbouring secrets or has even committed a crime against you such as theft and you want to get to the bottom of this.

It could even be that you are the victim of unfair and false allegations and accusations and want to take a polygraph examination yourself to prove your innocence and put an end to the rumours and shows those you care about that you are honest and trustworthy.

As a business owner, polygraph testing can be an invaluable tool within application processes to verify the honesty and integrity of potential recruits and can also assist with employee investigation such as when an act of fraud or employee theft has occurred, and you need to identify and evidence the culprit or behaviour.

Whatever situation you need to uncover deception and reveal the truth behind, whether personal or professional, a lie detector test holds all the answers that you need and the solution to any quandary or dilemma, allowing you to make informed decisions and move forward with your life once again.

How polygraph tests work

Polygraph testing is based on research and experimentation within the fields of neuroscience and psychophysiology that have identified that the human body responds with certain physiological changes when exposed to stress such as the threat or fear of one’s own deception being uncovered and the consequences of this.

During a polygraph test these bodily changes, which include respiration rate, heart rate and blood pressure, skin temperature, and perspiration rate are measured via the use of sensors attached to the subject and their body language and other non-verbal clues are also observed by a trained polygraph examiner whilst carefully formulated questions are posed.

Data received by the polygraph instrument is converted into visual format which allows measuring and scoring to be applied by the examiner and this will indicate whether there is evidence of deception or no evidence of deception present within the responses given by the subject during the examination.

What to expect at a lie detector test?

You will need to pay a deposit via card payment to book your lie detector test and once this has been completed the polygraph examiner will need to call you for a discussion about the matter behind your need for a test and to gain some information from you about the individual sitting the test and the questions that need to be included.

A lie detector test can only address one issue per test and reduces in accuracy if more than one issue is involved so you will need to book more than one test if you have several issues to resolve and discounts are available if more than one test is required at the same time and location.

The questions used within polygraph examination have to be carefully formulated and worded and the examiner will help you to decide on a question set that will best achieve the aims you have for the test.

On the day of testing it is vital that the examinee does not consume any alcohol or illicit substances including cannabis and that they limit caffeine intake where possible and energy drinks should be avoided.

The examiner will conduct a pre-test interview which will gain further information about the matter at the heart of the test and the individuals involved, gain consent for testing, go through the question sets that will be used and check no adaptations are required.

The sensors will then be attached to the torso, arm, and hand over light clothing and a short calibration exercise will be carried out before proceeding with the main test itself.

No other person can be present during testing and no recording can take place as this can influence the results and distort accuracy.

After your test it may be possible to verbally receive results straight away or there may be further data analysis required before these can be given; you will always receive your result and a full written report within 48 hours of your test, and this will be emailed to you so it’s essential you have an active email account to receive this as these cannot be posted to you.

Can you do a lie detector test online?

Physical presence of the examiner and checking of correct placement of sensors is essential to the accuracy and proper procedure for lie detector testing; no research or evidence is in support of remote or online lie detector testing and results obtained through this will not be accurate or reliable. Bond Rees do not offer this service and you should not accept this from any other company.

Are lie detector tests accurate?

Lie detector testing is widely used and highly regarded within criminal investigation, legal cases, police and probation services, and financial organisations around the world due to its strong evidence base and reliable results.

Leading authorities on polygraph testing report accuracy to be 85% or higher but this is largely influenced by the stringency and correct procedure employed by the examiner so it’s important to use a true professional who is committed to achieving accuracy and objectivity such as our Bond Rees examiner.

Our polygraph expert

Our polygraph examiner has completed training with the European Polygraph Academy and is an active member of the European Polygraph Association and also holds a BSc (hons) Psychology degree and Post Graduate Diploma so is well qualified and knowledgeable in the field and practice or polygraph examination.

Polygraph Test FAQs

How soon can I book a lie detector test?

We are usually able to accommodate lie detector tests within 48 hours of your request or sometimes even sooner but be prepared to not sit a test within a couple of hours as there is a procedure that needs to be applied correctly if we are to achieve accurate and reliable results.

Contact Bond Rees today to check availability in your area and get your test booked in now.

Can I record my lie detector test?

There is no recording permitted during your test as this has been found to potentially impact on the accuracy of results achieved and any attempts to record the test will result in the test being aborted and no refund of fee. You may take a photograph of yourself attached to the polygraph instrument if you would like visual evidence of sitting the test.

I use cannabis regularly – can I still take a lie detector test?

It’s important that you inform the examiner of your substance use so that this can be taken into account when analysing your results, but you will still be able to take a test and receive accurate results.

It’s essential that you do not use cannabis on the day of your test or any other illicit substances or alcohol.

Will I receive a report of the test results?

You will receive a full written report of your lie detector test by email within 48 hours of sitting your test; this will include copies of the charts achieved during your test and scorings regarding levels of deception or non-deception found. You must have an active email account in use to receive your report as we will not post this to you.
