Plymouth Lie Detector Test

A lie detector test or polygraph examination as it is also known provides a means of accurately and reliably discerning truth from lies and will uncover the facts and reality in any situation or behind any individual’s behaviours or actions.

As a private individual you might want to find out if a partner if cheating on you, if someone is the perpetrator of a crime or harmful act against you such as theft or betrayal of some form, or you might be the accused party and want to take a test to end hurtful allegations and prove your innocence.

Employers or business owners can find polygraph examination invaluable to internal investigation when looking into employee theft, fraud, or misconduct and needing to find the culprit to enable them to protect their business from further harm or lie detection testing can also be useful as part of a pre-employment process to verify information provided by the applicant.

In the United States, lie detector testing is used extensively within recruitment processes, even for police and law enforcement agency applicants, and studies have found that this leads to a higher quality of staff employed and also as a deterrent to employee fraud or misconduct.

Bond Rees can usually accommodate your lie detector test request within 24 to 48 hours of you contacting us and our polygraph examiners are fully trained and expert lie detector officers.

We cover the whole of the UK including the Devon port city of Plymouth, known for its maritime heritage and historic barbican district with its narrow cobbled streets.

How polygraph tests work

Study, research, and experimentation within neuroscience, psychology, and psychophysiology has identified that the human body responds to perception of stress or threat, such as the fear of deception being detected, through presentation of certain bodily changes.

These physiological responses occur within heart rate or pulse, respiration rate (breathing), perspiration within the hands, skin temperature, and blood pressure.

Polygraph tests work through the recording of these bodily indicators by sensors that are attached to the body of the subject whilst they undergo specific format questioning about the matter that needs clarifying and whilst their non-verbal clues and body language are also observed by the examiner.

The data received by the sensors is converted into visual format by the polygraph software which allows the polygraph examiner to analyse and measure the responses provided by the examinee and to apply scoring to ascertain if the answer that the subject gave during the test was a lie or the truth.

What to expect at a lie detector test?

Quit often in the UK the only experience or knowledge most people have about lie detector testing is the Jeremy Kyle show; this was unfortunately a very poor and uneducated portrayal of how polygraph examination is conducted and used, and we promise that you will never be subjected to any humiliation or judgement by our Bond Rees polygraph examiner.

The examiner will call you to discuss the test and get an idea of the questions you want to ask prior to your test date. It’s important that you understand that 1 lie detector test can only address 1 issue and if you need to address more than 1 issue, you will need more than 1 lie detector test and Bond Rees offer discounts in situations of more than 1 test to be taken at the same time and location.

Examination can take place at your home, and this is the most common approach as a familiar and comfortable atmosphere is conducive to a helpful polygraph test environment, but Bond Rees can arrange a discreet and private venue locally for you if you would prefer.

No other person can be present during the testing and no recording of any form can be undertaken by the subject or any other person known to them as this can impact on the reliability of your results and polygraph evidence.

There will initially be a pre-test interview which is an informal and relaxed chat with the examiner about you as an individual, the matter that the test has been requested to address, and the questions that will be asked during the polygraph exam.

It’s important that you tell the examiner about any mental or physical health difficulties that you have and any prescribed medication that you are taking or any alcohol or illicit drug use applicable to you as this will need to be factored in when analysing your results.

The sensors will be attached to your torso, arm, and hand over light clothing (jumpers and coats will need to be removed) and you will be asked several sets of questions that have been worded and formulated in line with best practice and methodology to achieve accurate lie detector test results.

After your test it may be possible to receive results immediately or the examiner may need a little more time to analyse these to be sure that you are given the most accurate and definite answers. Your lie detector test results and written report will always be emailed to you within 48 hours of you taking your test.

Can you do a lie detector test online?

No research or evidence supports the use of online or remotely conducted lie detector testing and this does not offer any form of validated or recognised results.

Bond Rees only provide reliable and accurate lie detector test services so will not offer online testing and advise you not to accept this from any other provider as it is not a valid or evidence backed method of truth verification.

Are lie detector tests accurate?

The American Polygraph Academy is the recognised leading authority worldwide on lie detector testing and advises that lie detector testing can achieve accuracy of between 85% and 95% or even higher in some situations.

Bond Rees’s polygraph examiner uses the Utah model of lie detector testing and 7 point scoring which studies have found to be 90% accurate.

Polygraph Test FAQs

Can I take a lie detector test if I smoke cannabis?

Cannabis use will impact on bodily responses that are recorded within a lie detector test; you can still take a test if you smoke cannabis on a chronic basis but its vital that you make the examiner aware of this so that she can factor this into your results. Its also important that you abstain from using cannabis on your test day until after you have sat your lie detector test.

Are lie detector tests genuine?

It depends on who you arrange to provide your test!

If you have a lie detector test with a trained professional who uses up to date and accurate testing instruments (like Bond Rees) your test will be accurate and reliable and is a scientifically evidenced and recognised method for determining the truth. If you use a dodgy or untrained provider, your test will be useless.

How long will I need to allow for my test?

It’s best to allow up to 2 hours for testing as it is quite a complex procedure and there must be no pressure to rush at any point.

How much does a lie detector test with Bond Rees cost?

You can get a fast and exact no obligation quotation for your lie detector test by contacting Bond Rees on any of the options above – we provide a discount if you need 2 or more tests to be undertaken at the same time and location.
